Selection of Awardees

hotel reservations by June 1(at least 8 wks prior to the
meeting) to take advantage of the block discount.
Eligibility
- Professional
status of nominee should be at a level of 2 year post-doctoral
fellow or resident up to no more than 2 years as Assistant
Professor as of September 15 of the current year.

some of the awardees who are not ASBMR members will join
ASBMR.

Submission
Process
Applications
are mailed to the ASBMR business office by April 1. Each
nomination sent includes six copies of the following:
- Abstract
- Curriculum
Vitae of Nominee
- Summary
of Nominee's Research
The
ASBMR staff administers the review process, which includes
sending the nomination packets to the review panel, arranging
the review panel conference call, and sending out the acceptance
letters.
The
ASBMR President and Sun Valley director each select two
members to serve on the nomination review panel. The ASBMR
reviewers are mostly members who attend or have attended
the Sun Valley Meeting. The review panel scores each nomination
packet and sends their scores to ASBMR staff who in turn
average the scores and rank the nominees. The review panel
then meets via conference call to discuss the scores and
agrees on the six young investigator awardees. Afterwards,
acceptance/rejection letters are sent out by ASBMR staff.
Nominees are notified by May 15 of the current year
(thus, the nomination review process takes no more than
six weeks).
After
the awardees have been identified, their contact information
is sent to the Sun Valley Meeting director who contacts
them directly with further details about the meeting. Frost/ASBMR
YI awardees receive $1,500 at the meeting and are required
to present their research during a 15 minute presentation
with an additional 10 minutes for detailed discussion.
The meeting registration is waived for awardees, but they
are expected to make their own arrangements for travel and
accommodations. Their award is presented as a component
of the meeting.
Note:
Award checks will be cut from the general fund for the Sun
Valley Meeting.
